    1. ...require students to attend a library workshop.

Too many students do not kow how to search EBSCO. They provide World Wide Web sources, instead of academic sources. They don't know how to conduct research for a term paper or literatire review. The do a Google search, instead. I think all sudents should be REQUIRED to learn these skills so that instructors don't have to struggle with this issue.

I agree that the students have varying degrees of ability…Here at Puksta Library instructors can contact us and invite us to classes to train the students…See this blurb under library services on our website…
        “Reference help and library instruction
Library instruction is available to individuals or groups. Group sessions can be general introductions to the library or in depth instruction in the use of particular resources. Faculty may schedule these sessions at anytime. Please schedule the sessions at least one week in advance to allow library staff adequate preparation time.

Library staff are available during all hours of operation to assist you with your questions. Drop in anytime or set up an appointment for more in depth assistance. You can also call or email questions to library staff anytime."

Perhaps in the Fall semester I can do several short library instruction classes for students [independently of any classes] and see… more

        • put together a laptop/LCD projector cart for use in Keene

Sometimes the laptops have a password that we can't figure out, or the projector doesn't seem compatible with the laptop that is available. If it was all hooked up and already on a cart it would be more user-friendly!

I think that having a computer station or two in the Falcon room is a very interesting idea for checking email, quick research and the like…
I’m not sure if the student senate thinks this a good idea but someone could certainly propose this idea to them. Thanks for your idea!

Due to copyright restrictions, we can’t convert the VHS that we have already purchased to DVD…We do however purchase most videos now in the DVD format. Thanks for your feedback!
